This month we will be celebrating the Grand Opening of the John Speck Memorial Library at the First Ascent climbing gym in Arlington Heights.

The John Speck Memorial Library has a new home! Come join us to celebrate the Grand Opening, climb a little, chat a lot, eat some pizza, and a chance to win some club branded gear! CMC Members get to climb for free in honor of the Library! Thank you to our hosts at FA!
A couple of housekeeping points:

- Alcohol is not allowed during this event
- All attendees must abide by the rules set forth by First Ascent
In case you weren’t aware, one of the largest collections of books on mountaineering in North America is accessible to CMC members. And now, after several years in storage, it will be easier than ever to check out books. The library now resides within the new First Ascent climbing gym in Arlington Heights. It consists of a great number of volumes including mountaineering books, autobiographies and biographies, pamphlets, journals, a few videos, and even microfiche and films. Materials related to the CMC's history and other records of the CMC are also archived at the library. The John Speck Memorial Library is owned and managed by the Mountaineering Foundation of Chicago, who by special arrangements provide for the loaning of library material to CMC members. Details on times that books can be checked out will be announced soon. Please join us on September 12th, at 8:00 PM to be a part of the grand opening ceremony and stupendous fall get-together social hour.
